Thomas Tournemine opened his gallery in La Baule in spring 2021, after 15 years in the art trade between France and Switzerland. His first experience was at Christie's auction house in Paris, followed by several years of apprenticeship in the family gallery. In 2013, he set up his own structure in Gstaad, Switzerland, where he stayed for 4 years. Returning to Paris in 2017, he worked for a group of international galleries (14 locations worldwide), before relocating to his native western France.

In addition to his gallery activity, Thomas Tournemine also offers consulting and brokerage services for the acquisition of modern, post-war and contemporary art.

Given that the role of a gallery - unlike that of an “art dealer” - is to take artistic risks, the promotion of the young contemporary art scene is essential. This in no way prevents us from championing the work of established artists, the advantage being to create a virtuous dynamic for all generations.

The result is a selection (deliberately limited so that everyone can be seen) of emerging and mid-career artists from France, England, Italy and Chile. The gallery sets out to work with them in a balanced relationship and with a long-term vision.

This is the case, for example, with the young Marseille painter Marius Messinese (see picture), with whom we have been working closely and amicably since 2021.

Three years after opening his gallery, Thomas Tournemine inaugurated in spring 2024 a second space, adjoining the first, dedicated exclusively to temporary exhibitions, whether monographic or thematic. This “white cube” enables dynamic programming throughout the year, as well as total immersion in a single universe at a time. The result is a multiplicity of experiences.

In the main space, a selection of the artists represented by the gallery is on permanent display.

In this picture you can see “Contortions”, the duo exhibition by Bergstein and Léo Caillard presented in summer 2024.
